Morning Prayer for September 3

About 2–3 minutes · 11 Scripture passages (KJV)

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

God’s Word

Neither shall there be leaven seen with thee in all thy quarters.

Today’s takeaway: Get rid of every trace of sin, as Israel cleared out the old leaven.

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil

Abhor that which is evil

Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled

If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me

Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

Let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners

In him is no sin.

Prayer

Holy God, Israel had to remove every bit of leaven from their houses at Passover. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. Search me this morning. Help me hate evil and abstain from every appearance of it. Keep any root of bitterness from springing up in me. Christ our Passover was sacrificed for me, so let me keep the feast with sincerity and truth. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
