Evening Prayer for September 3
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
The serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: … your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Today’s takeaway: Satan's oldest trick is doubting God's Word, so put on the full armor of God.
I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
My brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
Before you pray
Where did you hear the serpent's question, Has God really said, today?
Prayer
Father, the serpent told Eve that she would not die, and she believed him. I do not want to be deceived the way Eve was. Make me strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. I put on the whole armor of God tonight, the belt of truth and the shield of faith. I am not ignorant of the enemy's schemes. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
