Morning Prayer for September 29

About 2–3 minutes · 11 Scripture passages (KJV)

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

God’s Word

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us

Today’s takeaway: Jesus gave His life for you, and He calls you to love others the same way.

The love of Christ, which passeth knowledge

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Christ … suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps

Ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

We ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, this is how I know love: You laid down Your life for me. Your love passes knowledge. You were rich, and You became poor for my sake. You came not to be served, but to serve and to give Your life. You washed Your disciples' feet and told us to do the same. Since You loved me like this, help me love others today, forgiving and serving them. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
