Evening Prayer for September 28
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
Today’s takeaway: The stars and heavens declare God's glory, and He is mindful of you.
The invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead
He left not himself without witness
Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead.
They that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
Before you pray
What in creation spoke to you about God today?
Prayer
LORD, the heavens declare Your glory, and night after night they show knowledge. Tonight I look up at the sky You made and wonder why You care for me. Yet You do. Let the size of the heavens put my worries in their place, and let me sleep under Your care. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
