Morning Prayer for September 17

About 2–3 minutes · 7 Scripture passages (KJV)

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

God’s Word

A bruised reed shall he not break

Today’s takeaway: God does not despise a broken heart but heals it and binds up its wounds.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

Thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made.

I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick

Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

Behold, your God … will come and save you.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You will not break a bruised reed. You heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds. I come to You this morning a little bruised. Be gentle with me, and help me be gentle with others who are bruised too. Lift up the hands that hang down, and strengthen my weak knees for today. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
