Evening Prayer for September 17

About 2–3 minutes · 11 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

Today’s takeaway: Taste and see how good God is, because He keeps the best for last.

When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was

Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

The ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat.

I believed, and therefore have I spoken

I know whom I have believed

I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.

The goodness of God

He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

Let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy

Before you pray

Where did you taste God's goodness today?

Prayer

LORD, I have tasted and seen that You are good. You saved the best wine for last at Cana, and You keep doing the same for Your people. I believed, and so I have spoken. I sat down under Your shadow with great delight, and Your fruit was sweet to my taste. You did not spare Your Son. Let me shout for joy tonight. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
