Evening Prayer for September 16

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Today’s takeaway: Your night of trouble will end, and joy will come with the morning.

No man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto. For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation

In me ye … have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

The night is far spent, the day is at hand

He shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.

He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces

There shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

We which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: … Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Before you pray

What sorrow are you carrying tonight that joy will one day replace?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, weeping may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning. In the world I will have trouble, but in You I have peace. The night is far spent, and the day is at hand. One day You will wipe away every tear, and there will be no more death, sorrow, or crying. I will be satisfied when I awake with Your likeness. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
