Morning Prayer for October 9
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
Thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful
Today’s takeaway: God is patient and ready to pardon, and His kindness is meant to lead you home.
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
The longsuffering of our Lord is salvation
For this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
Whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
Despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
Rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
Prayer
O God, You are ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness. You are not slack concerning Your promise; You are patient, not willing that any should perish. Paul obtained mercy so that Jesus could show all His patience in him as an example. Do not let me despise Your goodness. I rend my heart, not my garments, and turn to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
