Evening Prayer for October 8

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Set my feet upon a rock

Today’s takeaway: Christ is the rock under your feet, and nothing can separate you from His love.

That Rock was Christ.

Simon Peter … said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

In full assurance of faith

Faith, nothing wavering. … he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Before you pray

What is your life built on tonight?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You set my feet on a rock, and that Rock is You. Peter confessed that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God, and on that rock You build Your church. There is salvation in no one else. Help me draw near in full assurance of faith, without wavering. Nothing can separate me from Your love. I rest on the Rock tonight. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
