Evening Prayer for October 9

About 2–3 minutes · 10 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

The words of the LORD are pure words

Today’s takeaway: God's Word is pure and true, so take it in and let it keep you from sin.

Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.

The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.

Brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby

We are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

Nor handling the word of God deceitfully

Before you pray

Did anything you read or watched today go against God's pure word?

Prayer

LORD, Your words are pure words, like silver tried in a furnace. Your word is very pure, and I love it. Every word of God is pure, and You are a shield to those who trust You. Help me think on whatever is true, honest, just, pure, and lovely. Let me desire Your word like a newborn baby desires milk, so I may grow. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
