Morning Prayer for October 23
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
A man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
Today’s takeaway: A contented heart with God is worth more than great wealth with trouble.
A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.
Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.
Godliness with contentment is great gain.
Having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
Give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.
Give us this day our daily bread.
Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Prayer
Father, my life does not consist in the abundance of things I own. A little with the fear of the LORD is better than great treasure with trouble. Give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food I need, so I do not forget You. Give me today my daily bread. You have never let me lack anything. Keep me free from the love of money and content with what I have. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
