Evening Prayer for October 22
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.
Today’s takeaway: The LORD rules over all things, so rest tonight in your Father's good pleasure.
The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.
Shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else. I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
He doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?
If God be for us, who can be against us?
He must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Before you pray
What in your life tonight do you need to trust to God's rule?
Prayer
LORD, Your kingdom rules over all. The lot is cast into the lap, but its whole outcome is from You. Some things that happened today felt random or unfair. I give them to You tonight, trusting that nothing is outside Your rule. It is Your good pleasure to give Your little flock the kingdom. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
