Morning Prayer for November 5
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
Take thou also unto thee principal spices
Today’s takeaway: God's Spirit anoints His people, teaching them and producing His fruit in their lives.
And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment
Upon man’s flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall ye make any other like it, after the composition of it: it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you.
One Spirit
Diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
Thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power
God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.
Of his fulness have all we received
As the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
He which … hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Prayer
Father, You told Moses to make a holy anointing oil from the finest spices. Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit without measure, and from His fullness I have received. You have anointed me too. Let the fruit of Your Spirit show in me today, especially patience and gentleness with the people who test them. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
