Morning Prayer for November 28

About 2–3 minutes · 5 Scripture passages (KJV)

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

God’s Word

As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Today’s takeaway: Real faith shows itself in a growing life of goodness, love, and holiness.

Not every one that saith … Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord

Add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall

By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Prayer

Father, I am saved by grace through faith, not by works. Yet faith without works is dead. Not everyone who says Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom. Help me add to my faith virtue, knowledge, self-control, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love. Make me diligent to confirm my calling. Let my faith show itself in what I do today. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
