Evening Prayer for November 27
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
Today’s takeaway: Your choices affect others, so do not follow the crowd into sin.
She took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursed thing, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? and that man perished not alone in his iniquity.
Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil
Wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat
None of us liveth to himself
Brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
Take heed lest by any means this liberty of your’s become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
When ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Before you pray
Did you go along with the crowd today when you should not have?
Prayer
Father, when sinners entice me, help me not consent. Eve took the fruit and gave it to her husband. Achan's sin troubled all Israel. Do not let me follow the crowd to do evil. None of us lives to himself. Help me use my freedom to serve others in love and not become a stumbling block to anyone weaker. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
