Evening Prayer for November 28

About 2–3 minutes · 7 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

As the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might … deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Today’s takeaway: Because Jesus defeated death, you can face it without fear, knowing a home awaits you.

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

We know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: … We are … willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Before you pray

How does Christ's victory over death give you confidence tonight?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You took on flesh and blood to free those who lived in fear of death. O death, where is your sting? If this earthly tent is taken down, I have a building from God. Tonight I give You any fear I have about the future. Let not my heart be troubled; I believe in You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
