Morning Prayer for May 5

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

God’s Word

Take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? For … your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

Today’s takeaway: Do not worry about tomorrow's needs, because your Father knows them and cares for you.

O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.

No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

I would have you without carefulness.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

Have faith in God.

Prayer

Father, You know what I need before I ask. You will not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly. Not one sparrow falls to the ground without You, and the very hairs of my head are numbered. So why am I so fearful? Take my anxious thoughts this morning. I bring my requests to You with thanksgiving, and I choose to have faith in You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
