Morning Prayer for May 22

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

God’s Word

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.

Today’s takeaway: The world cannot give lasting peace, but Jesus gives it to those who trust Him.

The world passeth away, and the lust thereof

Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.

What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

I would have you without carefulness.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

The Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means.

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You told Martha that she was anxious and troubled about many things, but only one thing is needed. I am often like her. The world is passing away, and much of my rushing is a vain show. Let me choose the good part this morning and sit at Your feet. Give me Your peace, not as the world gives, at all times and in every way. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
