Evening Prayer for May 21
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
Jesus Christ our Lord.
Today’s takeaway: Jesus is Savior, Christ, and Lord, and He calls you to serve others as He did.
Thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
He humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth
Messias … which is called Christ
The LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives
The last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
The second man is the Lord from heaven.
My Lord and my God.
Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
Before you pray
Whose feet could you wash this week in a practical way?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, You save Your people from their sins. You are the Christ, anointed to bind up the brokenhearted, and the Lord from heaven. With Thomas I say, My Lord and my God. You humbled Yourself to death on a cross, and God gave You the name above every name. You are my Master, and You washed Your disciples' feet. Make me a servant too. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
