Evening Prayer for May 22

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

The Spirit also helpeth our infirmities

Today’s takeaway: When you do not know how to pray, the Spirit prays for you.

The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God

It is God which worketh in you

We know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

He knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench

The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

Before you pray

What do you not even know how to pray about tonight?

Prayer

Father, I do not always know what to pray for as I ought. Thank You that Your Spirit helps my weakness and prays for me with groanings too deep for words. You know my frame and remember that I am dust. You will not break a bruised reed. My spirit is willing, but my flesh is weak. Make me lie down in green pastures tonight. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
