Morning Prayer for May 16
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
A servant of Jesus Christ
Today’s takeaway: Serving Jesus is not slavery but freedom, because He calls His servants friends.
Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
What things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
Being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
Thou art no more a servant, but a son
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh
Prayer
Lord, You are my Master and my Lord, and I want to serve You today. Yet You call me more than a servant; You call me Your friend, and You have made me a son and heir. Whatever I once counted as gain, I count as loss for Christ. Help me stand fast in the freedom You have given, and use that freedom to serve others in love. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
