Evening Prayer for May 15
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus
Today’s takeaway: You are joined to Christ, who is risen, so death can no longer hold you in fear.
Fear not; … I am he that liveth
Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am
We are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
He is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead
Ye are complete in him, which is the head
Forasmuch … as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
This corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
Before you pray
How would you live tomorrow if you believed you were seated with Christ?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, You are the head of the body, the firstborn from the dead, and I am a member of Your body. You have raised me up with You and seated me with You in heavenly places. You asked the Father that I would be with You where You are. One day this mortal body will put on immortality. Until then, I am complete in You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
