Evening Prayer for May 16
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel
Today’s takeaway: Let God be your counselor and guide, because your way is safest in His hands.
His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor
Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
Thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
He knoweth the way that I take
Man’s goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?
Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
This God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.

What decision are you facing that you need to commit to the Lord?
Prayer
LORD, I bless You for giving me counsel. Jesus is my Wonderful Counselor. I cannot direct my own steps. So I commit my work to You, and I trust You to establish my plans. You know the way I take. Guide me with Your counsel now, and afterward receive me to glory. You will be my guide to the very end. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
