Morning Prayer for May 14
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
The fellowship of his sufferings
Today’s takeaway: Following Jesus may bring loneliness and rejection, but He walked that road first.
It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord.
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
In the world ye shall have tribulation
Because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
I looked for some to take pity, but there was none
At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me
The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
Here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.
Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, You were a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief. You had nowhere to lay Your head. You looked for someone to comfort You and found no one. It is enough for me to be treated like my Master. If I face rejection or loneliness today for Your sake, let me share in Your sufferings without bitterness. Help me run with patience, looking to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
