Morning Prayer for March 4
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
Today’s takeaway: Set your heart on heavenly treasure, because what you see here is only temporary.
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
We walk by faith, not by sight
We faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
An inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you
Prayer
Father, set my affection on things above this morning. The world and everything it offers is passing away, and I do not want my heart tied to it. Show me where my treasure really is, because my heart will follow it. I walk by faith, not by sight. When my outward strength wears down, renew me inwardly day by day, and keep my eyes on the unseen, lasting inheritance You are keeping for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
