Evening Prayer for March 4

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Bowed his shoulder to bear

Today’s takeaway: Accept what God allows, and bring your burdens to Jesus, whose yoke is easy.

Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

Aaron held his peace.

It is the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good.

Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Before you pray

Is there a burden you are still carrying tonight that you could hand to the Lord?

Prayer

Lord, some of what You allowed today I would not have chosen. Help me say with Eli that You may do what seems good to You. You carried my griefs and sorrows first. So I take Your easy yoke and light burden, and I cast the rest on You. You will sustain me tonight. Teach me to bow my shoulder with trust, not complaint. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
