Morning Prayer for March 22
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, … Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan
Today’s takeaway: Lot chose what looked good and paid for it, so choose God's way over the world's.
Just Lot, … that righteous man
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Remember Lot’s wife.
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing
Be not ye … partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light
Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
Prayer
Lord, Lot lifted up his eyes and chose the well-watered plain because it looked good, and it led him toward Sodom. Guard my choices today. Let me choose what honors You, not what looks prosperous. Whatever I sow, I will reap. Remind me of Lot's wife, who looked back. Keep me from anything that pulls my heart away from You, and let me stay separate without becoming proud or cold. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
