Evening Prayer for March 21
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
Is his mercy clean gone for ever?
Today’s takeaway: God's mercy has not run out, and He delights to show it again.
His mercy endureth for ever
The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy
Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, … retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
A merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
Before you pray
When today did you doubt God's mercy toward you?
Prayer
Father of mercies, sometimes my heart asks whether Your mercy has run out. Your word answers that Your mercy endures forever. You are slow to anger and great in mercy, and You delight in showing it. You saved me by Your mercy, not by my works. Jesus is a merciful and faithful High Priest. I rest in Your mercy tonight. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
