Morning Prayer for March 18

About 2–3 minutes · 7 Scripture passages (KJV)

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

God’s Word

Mine eyes fail with looking upward

Today’s takeaway: When waiting grows long and hard, keep looking up, because Jesus is coming back.

Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed. My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O LORD, how long? Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies’ sake.

My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me. Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me. And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.

Ye have need of patience

While they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ

That blessed hope, … the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ

Prayer

O LORD, have mercy on me, for I am weak. Some mornings my eyes grow tired from looking up, and my heart asks, How long? I have wanted wings like a dove, to fly away and be at rest. Give me patience instead. The same Jesus who went up into heaven will come again. My citizenship is in heaven, and I am looking for that blessed hope. Keep my eyes lifted until He comes. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
