Evening Prayer for March 17

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

In all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Today’s takeaway: Jesus faced every kind of temptation without sin, so He can help you resist.

And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

When the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

In that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation

Before you pray

Which temptation reached you today through your eyes, your appetites, or your pride?

Prayer

Father, Your Son was tempted in every way I am, yet without sin. Eve saw, desired, and took; Jesus answered every temptation with Your word. Tonight I confess where I gave in today. He suffered being tempted, so He is able to help me. Teach me to answer as He did, It is written, and to worship and serve You only. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
