Morning Prayer for July 24
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
Patient in tribulation
Today’s takeaway: Be patient in trouble like Job, trusting that God is good whether He gives or takes.
It is the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good.
Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer, but I would make supplication to my judge.
The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?
Jesus wept.
A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: … Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows
Whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness
In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Prayer
LORD, You gave, and You have taken away; blessed be Your name. Some days I have to say with Eli, It is the LORD; let Him do what seems good. Help me be patient in the trouble I am facing now. Jesus wept, and He knows grief. Strengthen me today for patience and even joy. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
