Evening Prayer for July 23
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
Brethren, pray for us.
Today’s takeaway: Pray faithfully for one another, because the prayers of God's people are powerful.
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, … And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; … pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints
Without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers
Always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
Before you pray
Who asked for prayer recently, and have you prayed for them?
Prayer
Father, Paul asked his brothers to pray for him, and Epaphras labored fervently in prayer for his friends. Tonight I bring You those who are sick, those who asked me to pray, and those who carry burdens I do not know. Elijah was a man like us, and You heard him. Hear me for them now. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
