My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

God’s Word

The disciple is not above his master

Today’s takeaway: If the world mistreated Jesus, expect the same, and keep your eyes on Him.

Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.

It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord.

If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep your’s also.

I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Forasmuch … as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You are my Master and my Lord, and the disciple is not above his master. If they persecuted You, they will persecute Your followers too. When I am weary of opposition, help me consider You, who endured such hostility from sinners. Arm me today with the same mind You had. Let me run with patience the race set before me, looking to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
