Morning Prayer for January 4
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
Ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God giveth you.
Today’s takeaway: This world is not your final rest, so set your heart on the home Jesus is preparing.
This is not your rest
There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
Within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus
In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
With Christ; which is far better
God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the weary be at rest.
Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, … For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, this world is not my rest, and I am not home yet. Jesus has gone ahead to prepare a place for me, and one day You will wipe away every tear. Loosen my grip on what will not last. Set my heart on things above, and let me work well today without trying to make this earth my heaven. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
