Morning Prayer for February 4
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
The LORD hath said unto you, Ye shall henceforth return no more that way.
Today’s takeaway: Do not look back to your old life, but press on toward the better country ahead.
Truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is, … a … heavenly
Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt
The just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you
He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ
Prayer
Lord, You have told me not to go back the way I came. There are old places my heart still drifts toward. Like Moses, let me choose Your people and Your reproach over the pleasures of sin. The just live by faith and do not draw back. I have put my hand to the plough this morning; keep me from looking back. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
