Evening Prayer for February 3
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
The darkness hideth not from thee
Today’s takeaway: Darkness cannot hide you from God, and He keeps watch over you through the night.
His eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings. There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? … Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; … Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
He that keepeth thee will not slumber.
The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me
Before you pray
What fear tends to grow in the dark for you?
Prayer
Lord, the darkness does not hide anything from You, and the night shines like the day. Your eyes are on all my ways. I do not have to fear the terror by night, because I have made You my refuge and my dwelling place. No evil will have the last word over me. Keep watch over this house while I sleep. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
