Morning Prayer for February 29

About 2–3 minutes · 7 Scripture passages (KJV)

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

God’s Word

Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.

Today’s takeaway: Life is short and uncertain, so make the most of this extra day for God.

Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light.

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. … Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

What is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

The world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Prayer

Lord, I do not know what a day may bring, so I will not boast about tomorrow. Now is the accepted time; now is the day of salvation. Let me walk while I have the light. Whatever my hand finds to do today, let me do it with all my might. Keep me from being rich in things and poor toward You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
