Evening Prayer for February 28
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD
Today’s takeaway: Before you sleep, ask God to search your heart and show you what needs to change.
He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last
Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
To him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
If our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.
Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Before you pray
Did your conscience speak to you today, and did you listen?
Prayer
LORD, my spirit is Your candle, searching the inward parts. The accusers of the woman were convicted by their own consciences and walked away. I know good that I did not do today. Forgive me. If my heart condemns me, You are greater than my heart. Give me a clear conscience tonight through Jesus. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
