Evening Prayer for February 29
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
Thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.
Today’s takeaway: God never changes, so His mercy and promises are as sure tonight as ever.
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
The same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
The gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent
It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
This man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
Fear not; I am the first and the last
Before you pray
As this extra day ends, what has God been to you that never changes?
Prayer
LORD, You are the same, and Your years have no end. This extra day is a gift from You. You do not change, and that is why I am not consumed. Let me use whatever time You give me well. Thank You for Your faithfulness through every day of my life, including this one. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
