Morning Prayer for August 30
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
The king held out … the golden sceptre … So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.
Today’s takeaway: God's love drives out fear, so come near to Him with confidence.
It shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.
We have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us.
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
For through him we … have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
We have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Prayer
Father, Esther trembled as she approached the king, but he held out the golden scepter, and she drew near. You have held out Your scepter to me in Christ. When I cry to You, You will hear, because You are gracious. Perfect love casts out fear. Through Christ I have access to You and boldness to come. So I draw near this morning with full assurance of faith. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
