Evening Prayer for August 30
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
They said … It is manna: for they wist not what it was.
Today’s takeaway: Jesus is the true bread from heaven, and He gives you what you need each day.
Without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh
The bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
My flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
The children of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, some less. … he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered
They gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating
Take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? … your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Before you pray
How did God give you your daily bread today?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Israel ate manna in the wilderness and still died, but You are the bread that came down from heaven, and whoever eats of You will live forever. You gave the manna fresh every morning, just enough for each day. You know what I need, so I will not worry about what I will eat or wear. Feed my soul tonight. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
