Evening Prayer for August 29
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
Today’s takeaway: Rest tonight under God's wings, because the darkness is as light to Him.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust
Even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings.
The darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s.

Prayer
LORD, I will lie down in peace and sleep, for You alone make me dwell in safety. I will not be afraid of the terror by night. You cover me with Your feathers, and under Your wings I trust, like chicks under a hen. The darkness hides nothing from You; the night shines like the day. I will trust and not be afraid. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
