Morning Prayer for August 3
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
His mercy is on them that fear him
Today’s takeaway: God is near to humble, tender hearts that fear Him and tremble at His Word.
Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men! Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.
If ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear
The LORD … is nigh unto all them … that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.
Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before the LORD, … and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the LORD.
To this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.
The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Prayer
LORD, Your mercy is on those who fear You, and You are near to the brokenhearted. You look to the one who is humble and trembles at Your word. Give me a tender heart like Josiah's this morning, quick to repent and quick to listen. Hide me in the secret of Your presence as I go through today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
