Evening Prayer for August 3

About 2–3 minutes · 7 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Them that honour me I will honour

Today’s takeaway: Honor God above everything, even family, and He will honor you with the crown of life.

Whosoever … shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: … be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

Our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory

Praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ

Before you pray

Did you honor God today, even when it cost you?

Prayer

Father, You said that those who honor You, You will honor. Jesus promised to confess before You anyone who confesses Him. Tonight I ask myself whether I honored You today. Where I did not, forgive me. Help me love Christ more than anyone else, and give me courage to honor Him tomorrow. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
