Evening Prayer for August 2

About 2–3 minutes · 11 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

I have trodden the winepress alone

Today’s takeaway: Jesus fought the battle for your salvation alone, and He won it completely.

Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?

He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree

Being made a curse for us

O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.

Having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

O my soul, thou hast trodden down strength.

We are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony

Before you pray

What victory did Christ win for you that you can rest in tonight?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You trod the winepress alone. There was no one to help, so Your own arm brought salvation. Some battles in my life feel lonely too. Remind me tonight that You have already fought the biggest one for me and won. I rest in Your victory, not in my strength. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
