Morning Prayer for August 20

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

God’s Word

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent

Today’s takeaway: God cannot lie or change, so His promises are a safe place to rest.

The Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us

The faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations

All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God: … which keepeth truth for ever

Prayer

Faithful God, You are not a man that You should lie. You do not change. People have let me down, and I have let others down. But You keep covenant and mercy to a thousand generations. Let Your truth be my shield today, and help me be someone who keeps my word too. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
