Evening Prayer for August 19

About 2–3 minutes · 5 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.

Today’s takeaway: Pray with faith and together with other believers, because God welcomes His people's requests.

A new heart … will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes

Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them

If two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Before you pray

What have you stopped asking God for?

Prayer

Lord GOD, You want to be asked. You promised Your people a new heart, and then You said You would still be asked to do it. Jesus said that if two agree in asking, it will be done. Tonight I ask again for the things I had quietly stopped praying about. I name them before You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
