Morning Prayer for August 17
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
Pray one for another, that ye may be healed.
Today’s takeaway: Pray for others, even those who hurt you, because earnest prayer is powerful.
Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes: Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it.
Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.
Pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you
I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word
Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
Prayer
Father, Abraham pleaded with You for Sodom, and Jesus prayed for those who crucified Him. Teach me to pray for others, even for those who have hurt me. Jesus prayed for His disciples and for all who would believe through them. Today I bring You the people on my heart. The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Hear me for them. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
