Evening Prayer for August 16

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

He is before all things

Today’s takeaway: Jesus existed before all things, and He was the Father's delight from the beginning.

The Amen, … the beginning of the creation of God

The beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth: When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep: When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: … I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him

Yea, before the day was I am he

The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

The author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Before you pray

How big is your view of Christ tonight?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You are before all things, and in You all things hold together. Tonight my life feels like it is coming apart in places. If You hold all creation together, You can hold me. Hold my family, my plans, and my mind together while I sleep. In all things You have first place. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
