Morning Prayer for August 16
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
The house that is to be builded for the LORD must be exceeding magnifical
Today’s takeaway: Your body is God's temple, so honor Him with how you live today.
Ye … as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
What agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God … said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Ye … are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
Prayer
Holy God, Solomon's temple had to be magnificent, but now I am the temple of the Holy Spirit. I was bought with a price. This morning I ask You to show me what does not belong in this temple: habits, attitudes, things I watch or say. Help me clean house today, and let me glorify You in my body. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
